TruSlice Tissue Slicing Systems

or human material unless specifically described for that purpose.
The TruSlice Cutting Systems were developed at Guy’s and St. Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust1 in London, UK. This system eliminates dissection inaccuracies associated with conventional cutting procedures.
The system is suitable for slicing both fresh and fixed tissue. It greatly reduces the time to gross specimens and ensures optimal fixation and high quality tissue processing.
TruSlice facilitates the precise slicing of fresh breast tissues in accordance with recommendations of HER2 testing in the UK2 and as recommended in the guidelines from ASCO/CAP for labs carrying out IHC on breast specimens in the USA3,4.
This system uses cut inserts to vary the slice thickness from 2mm, 3mm, 4mm and 5mm to obtain the desired specimen thickness. The use of a clear Perspex immobilization plate, as shown in the above photo, enables the grosser to control pressure to the specimen and aid in cutting tissue slices that are not deformed.
The system is manufactured with 316 stainless steel. It is designed to allow quick and easy cleaning.
An optional calibration set is available for the user to check the accuracy of specimen thickness. A complete list of available accessories can be seen below.

The polypropylene manufactured cut up boards are durable, thick and easy to clean.
They provide a stable cutting platform.
This aids in the slicing, collection and handling of tissue specimens.
The polypropylene boards will not dull knives or fine surgical cutting blades.
Rubber feet are attached to each corner to stop slips.

The Clear Perspex Immobilization Plate enables the grossing person to visually control the pressure to a specimen for a precise slice of the tissue specimen.
By visually controlling the pressure to the tissue, deformation of the specimen may be prevented during slicing.
The 50mm immobilization plate is provided with the TruSlice systems.
An optional 75mm Immobilization Plate is available for handling large tissues.
