Nigrosine (Water Soluble) is an acidic stain used for negative staining.
It is useful for studying the morphological shape, size and arrangement of bacteria cells that are too difficult to stain or are too delicate to be heat-fixed.

Uses for this stain in microscopy include viewing:

• Bacteria and bacterial flagella
• Viruses
• Membrane structures
• Proteins
